DPS Srinagar outshines at ATL Marathon 2020; Only school from J&K to feature in Top 300 List

Delhi Public School Srinagar achieved 26th rank in the recently announced national annual flagship innovation challenge held by the Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), NITI Aayog. Delhi Public School Srinagar is the only school from Jammu & Kashmir to feature in top 300 list.
 

The Innovation Marathon witnessed over 1000 Atal Tinkering Labs participating from across the country from which 300 top innovators were selected and top 10 teams from each state that participated in the Marathon of ATL Marathon 2020 were also announced. This year, AIM has received almost 5 times as many submissions as compared to the previous years. ATL Marathon 2020 witnessed over 7200 innovations from 32 states and 324 districts.

 
Pertaining to the basic idea of Research, Ideate, Innovate and implement – Mindful Innovation for the greater good, DPS Srinagar capitulated under the theme economy where the students submitted the project under innovation title “AUTOMATIC IRRIGATION CONTROL ROBOT WITH MONITORING SYSTEM USING IOT MODULES”.
 

It is pertinent to mention that 02 projects from the school have been selected in Top 10 projects from J&K.

“Our students achieved the 26th rank across the country and it is the biggest achievement for all of us. The competition was really tough as the participation was two-fold this year,” said Shafat, In-charge, ATL DPS Srinagar.

“Under the theme economy and system, our students successfully incarnated the two different ideas on “AUTOMATIC IRRIGATION CONTROL ROBOT WITH MONITORING SYSTEM USING IOT MODULE” which catered the problem like need of innovation to increase the productivity, manage scale, speed and sustainability in Agriculture to benefit farmers. Under the second theme – system, they submitted the project entitled “GESTURE BASED WHEEL CHAIR WITH GSM GPS SYSTEM FOR PHYSICALLY DISABLED PERSON” which aimed to Innovate to develop an effective and integrated healthcare system,” he added.

While announcing the winners virtually, Mission Director AIM, Dr. Chintan Vaishnav congratulated the winners and said that the most promising of these students will go on to attend the Student Entrepreneurship program (SEP) which is a 11-month long bootcamp to take their innovations to the market. We have had students going on to create start-ups and even making their products available on popular e-commerce sites.

“Through this journey, I want to highlight an important fact – The young generation of our country is coming together to solve problems of their community. These are steps in the right direction to truly create an Atmanirbhar Bharat,” he added.

Congratulating the students for the success, Vijay Dhar, Chairman DPS Srinagar said, “We are extremely proud by the efforts of our students who are taking a keen interest in the vast field of innovation and technology. The enthusiasm and dedication of our students happily motivate us to provide them with such platforms where they can explore and learn new things in all aspects of life.”

“This is a moment of pride for all of us. Such collective efforts and team spirit would bring more laurels to the school in the near future,” he added.
