Guestbook

I came to Srinagar with a lot of expectations - the reality was even more impressive. And seeing these bright, forward-looking school girls and boys was really thrilling. We will reflect how we intensify the exchange between schools from Germany and Kashmir. I am convinced that students from Srinagar would be the best Ambassadors from India. Thanks for this great opportunity.

German  Ambassador, Michael Steiner paid a visit to the School on April 20, 2013 and interacted with the students. The visit was part of the milestone project “German in 1,000 schools” of the German Foreign Office and Max Mueller Bhavan to introduce German as foreign language in various schools across the subcontinent.

Mr. Steiner was very appreciative of the manner he was welcomed in school in traditional Kashmiri way. He was impressed by the school infrastructure and the discipline of the students. He expressed his thoughts about discipline by saying that “such disciplined classes would seem to be a paradise for a German teacher”. He was highly impressed by the Bhangra performance of the tiny-tots students.

While addressing the students, Mr. Steiner pin-pointed a number of similarities between his native land and Kashmir in terms of climatic conditions and geographical locations. He expressed his views by calling it “feeling at home” while in Srinagar. He gave the message of global peace and brotherhood for which language would be acting as a bridge.
