DPS Srinagar conducted a Language festival from 3rd Nov to 10th Nov 2017. The writing festival began on the 3rd of Nov. 2017 started on a festive note with children enthusiastically participating and celebrating in the event. To begin with, teachers talked about their favorite authors, lyricists, poets and scriptwriters. This set the ball rolling and soon children got involved and not only shared their favorite writers but also collected their profiles and inserted them in charts. They made beautiful book covers and displayed them on the notice-boards in and outside their classes. Various newspaper and magazine articles were put forth and interesting collages of the same were made by children. Some famous quotes were also put up.

 Language teachers mostly used activity centered method in which children performed by means of Drama, Debate, Dialogue, advertisement, Folk literature, Songs etc.

Children were introduced to new writing skills. Creative writing was introduced whereby students were encouraged to think freely and put their thought process on paper.

Article writing was also introduced and after various deliberations and discussions, children noted down the important points about the format for writing an article. This was followed by writing down of an article on different social issues.

On the last two days i-e., 9th & 10th November children exhibited variety of programmes Renowned language experts had been invited to talk to children. Dr. Shaad Ramzaan and Prof Naseem Rafiabadi were invited as language experts in Kashmiri while for Urdu and Hindi Prof. Mohammad Zaman Azurda and Prof. Nairah Qadri were the respective experts.

They were quite impressed after watching the programs on display and encouraged the children as well. Children were awarded with the appreciation certificates for their involvement during the fest. It was a good initiative and with proper planning, it proved to be quite fruitful and it culminated in a positive way.
