DPS Srinagar wins zonal level U-17 Cricket Tournament

DPS Srinagar has won the zonal level U-17 cricket tournament for zone Amira Kadal held by Department of Youth Services and Sports, Jammu and Kashmir. The school defeated Balhama High School by a handsome margin of 43 runs in the finals. 
 
After beating Candid Higher Secondary School, Nowgam in the semi-finals, the school clashed with Balhama High School in the finals. Batting first after winning the toss, the school put a stellar performance with the bat and scored 103 runs in allotted ten overs. Qari Nabeel top scored with 39 runs and Ibrahim provided him good support by scoring 23 runs. The bowlers defended the total admirably as the opposing team was skittled the opposing team for just 60 runs. Basit, Afaan and Sarmad each chipped in with two wickets apiece. 
 
After the splendid show, five students from the team have been chosen as part of the team that will represent Amira Kadal zone for the inter zonal competition. This is the largest number that any school sent to the team. The Principal Mr Alistair R A Freese has congratulated the winning team and students. In his message, he said “the School is greatly proud of its budding cricketers  who have once again brought laurels to the school.”
