DPS Srinagar wins best delegate trophy at Model United Nations

The student delegation of Delhi Public School, Srinagar won the best delegate trophy at the recently held La Martiniere Girls Model United Nations Conference held from 9th to 13th May, 2019 at La Martiniere Girls School, Lucknow. The school beat twenty schools for the honour. The students were placed in various committees wherein two of the nine delegates secured first positions, two second positions, two third positions in their respective committees. Moreover, few other delegates recieved verbal mention in their respective committees.

Model United Nations, is an educational simulation where children get acquainted with diplomacy, international relations and procedural functioning of the UN in its real time, besides enhancing their leadership qualities, researching capacity, critical thinking and listening and debating skills. Sadiq Ali bagged the best delegate award in the Crisis Committee: The French Parliament and highly impressed the Chair by his wide research, facts, evidences and debating skills.

Nimrah Baba bagged the best delegate award in United Nations General Assembly and was praised for her empirical solutions that she presented to the international issues raised.

Asma Shakeel bagged High Commendation award in the Crisis Committee: National Liberation Front and dominated the committee through her debating skills and quick solutions.

Maryam Mir bagged High Commendation award in United Nations Human Rights Council and her defensive techniques were praised for their coherence.

Nabeel Akhtar bagged the Honorary delegate award in Peace Making In The Republic Of Burundi and was hailed for his commitment to the nation building through international cooperation.

Syed Huda bagged the Honorary delegate award in United Nations Security Council and was appreciated for her presentation techniques.

Aazima Basharat was awarded a verbal mention in United Nations Human Rights Council.

Two other delegates, namely, Mohammad Tazeem and Mohammad Mudasir were acknowledged for their participation.
