Appreciating the role of our in promotion of education, the Minister for Education, Naeem Akhtar said that “it has played the role of a torch bearer and created a niche in the field of education.”

“Schools like the DPS should act as a model for other Government Schools in the area and also help promote education among the under privileged,” Akhtar said addressing the students of various participating schools at the annual IT festival-TechKnow 2015.

Akhtar who was the Chief Guest of the event underscoring the importance of field visits for students to encourage hands-on learning. The Minister urged the teachers to encourage such activities, in addition to academics, to help promote field knowledge among students.

“IT has made unprecedented advances and it can help us to expand our knowledge and such events provide a clear view of opportunities and challenges of an increasingly connected world to students,” he said.

The two day workshop was the first of its kind in the valley and recorded a massive level of activity and interest. More than 200 participants from across the valley registered and interacted with their counterparts on the festival. Minister distributed participating certificates among the students. Principal, Kusam Warikoo and Pro-Vice Chairman, Vijay Dhar were also present on the occasion.
