Explore beyond the Google and instead of clutching on to a single career possibility, we need to widen our horizons.

On 3rd June 2015, students of Class XI got a golden chance to meet Mr Vasant Dhar, Professor and co-director for the Center on Business Analytics at New Ypork University and his brother Mr Dhar, a renowned entrepreneur.

The auditorium resonated with the singing of “LAB PE AATI HAI DUA” by the choir. The students were all jittery and veracious. Zaffar Ishaq of Class XI, the Vice-Head boy of the School, very ably compered the session. On a serious note, Mr Vasant Dhar emphasized on the need to ‘explore beyond the Google’ and instead of clutching on to a single career possibility, we need to widen our horizons, for we live in a world where switching careers is the need of the hour. We ought to prepare ourselves for lifelong learning. Mr Vasant Dhar, befitting the aura of the session, quoted “We need to be analytically astute for the future” for what defines is how we express ourselves. Mr Vasant Dhar stressed that the beginning of this holistic learning experience is that we need to learn how to learn.

Entrepreneur, Mr Dhar spoke on the diversely and drastically changing world of entrepreneurship, wherein we need special knowledge and experience in addition to capital, to bear fruits of success. He quoted, “Business in today’s world is all about knowing your customer”. He swayed the audience with his evocative words, “It doesn’t matter what you do, what really matters is how well you do it.” Emphasizing the importance of Humanities, Mr Dhar said “Arts create health. Art is the need of the hour to create a better and kinder society.”

Both of the esteemed guests cardinally focused on the role of motivation and stimulation to make the best of everything we do.

The enlightening orientation was followed by an interactive session wherein students were despoited of all their doubts and queries. Ansa Bashir, Afreen Aiman, Zoha Suzain, Adnan, Iflah, Bilquees, Fahad, Suha and Ishaan of Class XI came up with an array of questions, which proved to be all the more efficacious in making the session a success.

Mr Vijay Dhar expressed his gratitude and said that the infinite opportunities can be stolen only by motivation and encouragement.

The session ended with a brief ‘Vote of Thanks’ by Quasain Qureshi, the vice Head Girl of the School. The guests left the auditorium impressed and the session ended with a very optimistic note.
